What we do in a day

Hey everyone! I hope your week has started off great! Yesterday we had our 36 week checkup and everything is looking good. We have less than a month to be fully prepared and it’s kind of scary, but mainly very exciting!

Today I thought I’d share with you what we all do in a day. Being a stay at home mom isn’t always easy, and most of our days look terribly similar. I wish I was more creative so I could think of cooler things to do. If you have suggestions let me know!

6:30-8:00 am:  this is when Riley wakes up. Everyday is a different time, sometimes it’s extremely early others it’s close to 8:30.

After we wake up we head downstairs and get started making breakfast and letting the dog out. Once we finish eating breakfast, Riley feeds her fish and crab (she’s obsessed with them).

We relax for just a bit- Riley watches a little Mothers Goose Club ( worst show ever, songs will stay in your head forever), plays with her toys and dances her little heart out. This is normally when I start to check my emails and social media.

After, we go upstairs and get ready for the day. That’s when we start some laundry and Riley starts to play with more toys.

Playtime looks different every 5 minutes. She starts with her little toys, then plays with barbies, colors, plays play-doh (anyone else hate play-doh?) or plays in her kitchen. She also enjoys running around in circles through the house, silly girl.

12:00 pm: Lunch time! Every day is different. She has recently loved having little picnics on the living room floor with a Pb&j. We would go outside but she’s terrified of bugs.

Some more play time: sometimes we go outside and play, but we don’t have much of a yard so we stick to chalk.

2:00 pm: naptime! One of my favorite parts of the day ( for instance right now is nap time!) this is where I get some blog posts done, and I try and clean up a bit. However, I do enjoy resting so sometimes I do that. She naps anywhere from 30 minutes up to 2 hours.

After her nap we snuggle and have a snack. Her favorite is yogurt and some fruit.

More play time: it’s exhausting just thinking  about all the play time.

6:00 ish – Dinner time. We normally wait until my hubby is home to eat but sometimes he works late.

After dinner is play time/ relax time. We tend to have the tv on but no one is usually watching it.

8:30ish: Bedtime for Riley. We head upstairs and brush her teeth and put jammies on. Then it takes her ages to fall asleep, but once she does I get to go relax with my hubby.

Now this isn’t always how our day goes, a lot of the time we go to my sister in laws house and play outside, go on walks or play with toys inside. She has 3 kids so Riley loves going over there.

I also want to start doing crafts, so if you have any suggestions please let me know!

Thank you for reading!

  1. I work with young children. As far as crafts go, the messier, the better. They’re more interested in the process than the product. You can use old shirts or painting smocks if you’d like. Things like a 1:1 mix of corn starch and water (with food colouring) go well together. Painting with hands and bodies is good. Use different sizes and thicknesses of crayons. Use small trucks and cars as paintbrushes on paper. Paint with water on the ground outside. Paint with food, like pudding. Give her a bucket of soapy water and some measuring cups (supervised of course), and perhaps a turkey baster.
