Happy Wednesday my friends! Oh man I went to bed at a decent time last night and I actually got 6 hours of sleep in a row. This is a rare occurrence and I loved it. Of course I woke up at 4:30 to a horribly loud thunderstorm and so did my daughter. But we fell back asleep and it was amazing.
As a mom we have all sorts of guilt. I think it just comes with the territory you know? Once we have kids it becomes all about them, which is amazing but difficult at times. You go from having all this free time to do whatever sets your soul on fire to toning it down to being with your baby and doing what’s best for them.
I have 2 kids, a daughter Riley who is 3 1/2 and a son who will be 1 in July. I stay home with them while my hubby works as a general manager at the Goodwill in our town. He is also in the military so he is gone a good chunk of the time. I am not complaining at all I am just giving a little background of my life.
I try and take a little time for myself every single day. I think as a mom it is the most important thing you can do. Sometimes we have to do what’s right for us.
This past week has been tough for me. My kids have been acting up and I think my son is getting teeth. So today during their nap I chose to do something for me. I filled the bathtub, tossed in an amazing bath bomb, applied a face mask and relaxed. I even did a short guided meditation. Once I got out I felt much more relaxed and at peace. Of course I will have all my other tasks and struggles to deal with after my “me” time but I’ll feel a bit better.
I also try and prioritize working out daily. I try and get a 30 min workout done during my sons first nap. My daughter joins me with her yoga mat and does her own type of workout. It’s beautiful to see her get excited to roll out her mat with me. Sometimes I only get a 15 min workout in and that’s ok too.
I hope this helps any other mommas out there to know it is ok to take time for yourself. You can’t pour from an empty cup! Also remember there is no reason to feel guilty when you do take time to do something for you. You deserve to feel your best too!
